The Ohio State Bar Foundation (OSBF) is pleased to announce Bailey Higgins as a recipient of its Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under. The award is given to attorneys who work to make a difference in their communities, outside of their practice area, and without compensation. A public charity committed to improving the justice system and enhancing the public understanding of the rule of law throughout Ohio, the OSBF promotes excellence in the legal profession by recognizing attorneys who give back.
Higgins is currently an assistant prosecutor in Crawford County and the village solicitor for Crestline. She represents four villages in Marion County and the Village of Edison in Morrow County. Outside of her professional career, Higgins has given back to her community by volunteering her time and skills with Habitat for Humanity and the Mid-Ohio Food Bank. She is a dedicated church member, food truck volunteer, Marion popcorn festival worker, and moot court judge.
Higgins returns to Capital University every year to speak to those interested in pursuing a career in the law. Additionally, Bailey takes pride in the work she does with her interns. She is also a judge and coach to students interested in trial advocacy.
“Bailey has done terrific community service giving back not only to her local community but also to her law school and undergrad university communities, doing significant volunteer work for both universities and their students. She's a brilliant lawyer, volunteer, and mentor to aspiring lawyers,” said Stephen Tilson, a past president of the Ohio State Bar Foundation.
Higgins is a graduate of earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Public Administration from Capital University. She received her Juris Doctorate from Ohio Northern University's Claude W. Pettit College of Law.
Higgins received the OSBF’s Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under on September 29 during a luncheon hosted by the Ohio State Bar Association.
